The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), on Thursday 24th January 2019, donated office equipment and furniture to the Domestic Violence Secretariat of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP).
The items include: Desktop Computers, Laptops, Swivel Chairs, and an HP LaserJet Printer.
The equipment represents assistance from UNFPA Fund to MoGCSP’s Domestic Violence Secretariat seeking to help facilitate and enhance work delivery of the secretariat. The presentation also falls in in accordance with the provisions of the 7th GoG/UNFPA Country Programme.
The items were presented by the Country Representative of UNFPA, Mr. Niyi Ojuolape, and received by Dr. Afisah Zakariah, Chief Director of MoGCSP.
Speaking at a short ceremony held at the country office of UNFPA, Mr. Niyi Ojuolape said he was very pleased to donate these items to the Domestic Violence secretariat of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection and believed it will in a little way facilitate work and enable the secretariat to respond much better to issues of Domestic Violence.
Dr Afisah Zakariah, receiving the items on behalf of the secretariat thanked UNFPA for their great and humble gesture. “On behalf of the Minister, the acting executive secretary of the Domestic Violence Secretariat and the entire Ministry, we are really very grateful for this nice gesture and support and it will go a long way to support the unit and thank you so much”, she said.
The donation the Chief Director believes will, with no doubt, strengthen further the bond that exist between the MoGCSP and the UNFPA.
